SodaStream, a leading brand in home carbonation, aimed to make a splash with a humorous Super Bowl commercial. The mission was to create an engaging and funny ad where astronauts discover water on Mars, only to use it for their SodaStream machines. This high-profile spot needed to blend live-action footage with clean, futuristic HUD graphics to enhance the storyline and visual appeal.
With the Super Bowl fast approaching, SodaStream needed a standout commercial that would captivate millions of viewers. They turned to us because of our expertise in clean HUD style animations and 2D motion graphics, essential elements for making the Martian setting feel believable and futuristic. Our task was to add the finishing touches that would elevate the project.
We joined the project in its final stages, as The Mill was completing the shoot and edit. Our role was to design and animate HUD elements that overlaid the footage, making the Mars environment appear more high-tech and futuristic. Additionally, we created several 2D motion graphics scenes resembling news broadcasts, seamlessly integrating them into the edit. By working closely with The Mill, we ensured our graphics complemented the overall vision and enhanced the storytelling.
The final deliverable was a 60-second Super Bowl commercial that masterfully blended live-action footage with motion graphics. Our clean and futuristic HUD graphics served as the astronauts' user interface, adding a layer of realism to the Mars scenes. The 2D motion graphics provided a polished, news-like quality to certain segments of the ad, ensuring a cohesive and engaging viewing experience.
