Mission

When Youtooz, the king of collectible internet toys, partnered with Twitch, the world’s favorite live-streaming platform, you knew something wild was coming. Together, they were launching a series of physical toys based on some of Twitch’s most legendary emotes — Hey Guys, Kappa, and Cool Story Bob. These weren’t just inside jokes anymore — they were becoming real-world collectibles for Twitch fans everywhere.

Youtooz and Twitch needed a partner who could do these characters justice — telling their stories in a way that was equal parts nostalgic, ridiculous, and unforgettable. They tapped us at Flik because of our deep history in storytelling, motion graphics, 2D/3D animation, and our ability to make just about anything feel like a moment.

The Call

The launch was locked in — toys were rolling off the production line, and the Twitch community was waiting. Youtooz and Twitch needed content that didn’t just show off the toys, but actually celebrated them — leaning into the playful, weird spirit of the emotes themselves.

They trusted us to take the wheel and build something that would live up to the hype, move fast, and still hit that perfect balance of polished but purposely goofy. We were all in.

Process

We kicked things off with a classic production flow — scripting, storyboarding, style development — but added a twist. To really capture that old-school toy commercial vibe, we intentionally downgraded the production quality: chunky 2D animations, janky transitions, and over-the-top 3D renders of the toys that felt straight out of a 90s Saturday morning cartoon break.

One of the best parts? We worked with custom musicians to write and record original jingles for each toy. These songs told quick, funny origin stories for Hey Guys, Kappa, and Cool Story Bob — and set the perfect tone for the videos. Once the tracks were locked, we matched every animation beat to the music, bringing the toys and their personalities to life with just the right amount of intentional cheesiness.

Outcome

We delivered three 45-second promo videos — one for each toy — plus two 15-second teaser spots for broader social pushes. Each video felt like its own bizarre little universe, starring the emotes everyone knew but had never seen quite like this.

The visual style blended hand-done 2D animation with textured 3D models from Cinema 4D. Every cut, every zoom, every cheesy sparkly graphic was a wink to the retro commercials that inspired them. It wasn’t just a reveal — it was a full send into nostalgia, Twitch style.

Impact

Youtooz and Twitch were thrilled. The videos helped build hype leading up to the toy drop, got people sharing and commenting immediately, and gave the collaboration a real voice and personality. Fans loved seeing their favorite emotes come to life in such a weird, unexpected way — and the intentionally "low-fi" style was a huge hit with the Twitch crowd who appreciated the humor.

Ultimately, we helped make the launch feel bigger, more memorable, and totally in line with the playful chaos that defines Twitch culture. Another internet moment... captured, packaged, and delivered with a Flik-sized wink.
